Bankers' Acceptances (BAs)
BAs are negotiable instruments priced at a discount. They are guaranteed by banks as good for payment on maturity, hence the risk is on the banks that accept the instruments. BAs are rediscounted in the secondary market and are bearer instruments. They are subject to 20% withholding tax, which is deducted at source.
