The 9th of February 2016 marked a major milestone for FBC Bank Limited, as FBC Bank sponsored the first prize under the small scale farmer of the year category at the Tobacco Grower of the Year Prize Giving Day. Courtesy of FBC Holdings, Isabella Maposa, a small scale tobacco farmer, drove home with smiles written all over her face after scooping a state of the art Diesel Budget Grinding Mill complete with 20hp Changfa .
Addressing delegates at the ceremony Martin Makonese, Executive Director-Corporate & Institutional Banking , articulated that FBCH’s sponsorship is aimed at promoting economic growth. He had this to say, “At FBC Bank we believe that agriculture is one of the key drivers of our economy thus we have and will always focus our energies and resources towards agricultural development. This gesture is our commitment in rewarding and giving back to the farming community both established and upcoming farmers so they remain resolute in their farming and continue to improve their yield and quality of their tobacco.”
The Tobacco Grower of the Year Prize Giving Day is an annual initiative hosted by Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF) in partnership with associate sponsors. The awards presents a lucrative opportunity for stakeholders in agriculture to acknowledge, recognise and reward exceptional tobacco farmers in Zimbabwe.
