How do I initiate a Send-to-Cell Transaction?

The service is available to existing FBC Bank and Building Society account holders. Clients are not required to register for the service. Existing Mobile Moola users must simply dial *220#, select the Send-to-Cell option and follow prompts in order to complete the transaction. Once the transaction has been successfully completed, the beneficiary or recipient of funds receives an SMS notification from FBC Bank as well as the instructions on how to redeem the funds.

What are the steps to send money to a mobile number.

  • Step 1: Dial *220#
  • Step 2: Select Banking Services
  • Step 3 : Enter PIN
  • Step 4 : Select Option 3- Send to Cell
  • Step 5 : Select Account
  • Step 6 : Enter destination mobile number
  • Step 7 : Enter amount you wish to send
  • Step 8 : Enter Reference (Optional)
  • Step 9 : Confirm the transaction by Entering 1

It is imperative to note that FBC Bank and Building Society account holders can send funds to all Mobile Networks namely Econet, Netone and Telecel. The recipients of the funds can be classified in two(2) categories outlined below:

  1. FBC Account Holders - Individuals who hold FBC Accounts
  2. FBC Non-account holders - Individuals who do not hold an account with FBC

How do I redeem funds sent me via Send-to-Cell? (Account-holder) FBC Account Holders

  • Step 1 : Dial *220#
  • Step 2 : Select Banking Services
  • Step 3 : Enter PIN
  • Step 4 : Mobile Moola prompts a screen that requires the client to select the card they wish to redeem their voucher
  • Step 5 : Enter Voucher Reference Number
  • Step 6 : The funds are immediately credited into client’s preferred account number.

How do I redeem funds sent me via Send-to-Cell? (Not an Account-holder)

Non-account holders are required to open an FBC account digitally in order to access funds sent through Send-to-Cell. The Steps are outlined below:

  • Step 1: Individual receive a transfer notification with instructions on how to redeem funds
  • Step 2: Dial *220#
  • Step 3: Select Apply for an account
  • Step 4: Accept Terms and Conditions
  • Step 5: Enter ID Number in the format 123456789A00. Do not leave space.
  • Step 6: Enter Surname
  • Step 7: Select 1 ZWL Currency
  • Step 8: Enter Home Address
  • Step 9: Select which branch you would like to collect the card from
  • Step 10: Select 1 to Confirm
  • Step 11: Receive an SMS with Account number.

Who qualifies to be a ZIPIT SMART Merchant?

Any business enterprises, Small to Medium or Corporates with active bank accounts automatically qualify. Registered companies who wish to open bank accounts also qualify to become ZIPIT Smart Merchants.

How do I become a ZIPIT SMART Merchant?

Visit any FBC Bank/Building Society branch nearest to you today and register to become a ZIPIT Smart Merchant.

What are the current limits for ZIPIT Smart?

Limits follow the prevailing ZIPIT limits. A daily cumulative total limit of $20,000 and monthly limit of $100,000 (i.e. a customer performing either a ZIPIT transactions or a ZIPIT Smart transaction is bound by the prevailing limits)

Can a merchant use the same code for their various businesses?

The Merchant code is linked to an account number and one mobile number, a merchant has an option of using either one merchant code or multiple merchant codes for their different businesses.

What is ZIPIT SMART?

ZIPIT Smart is a mobile based merchant and bill payments solution. It is a new function on the ZIPIT platform that enables the initiation and transfer of merchant payments via a mobile phone to a unique Zipit Smart Merchant code.

What can I pay using ZIPIT SMART?

You can pay with ZIPIT SMART for the following;

  • Groceries
  • Bills
  • Goods & services in informal markets

Which type of phone can access ZIPIT Smart?

All phones both Smart and Feature (Mbudzi) phones can access ZIPIT Smart.

How do I make payments using ZIPIT SMART works? 

You can initiate a ZIPIT Smart transaction on your Mobile App or via your bank’s USSD code by entering a Merchant Code.

  5. Select 1 Pay By Merchant code
  6. Enter Merchant code
  7. Enter Amount
  8. Confirm transaction

NB: A payment confirmation with merchant details and transaction amount will be sent to your phone.

What are the benefits of ZIPIT SMART?

  • You will have the ability to use mobile phone initiated merchant payments, through a merchant code which is matched to a merchant’s bank account.
  • One will be able to make purchases to merchants receiving payment through mobile phones.
  • Convenience to make payments without moving funds to mobile wallets.

Who can use ZIPIT SMART?

Anyone with an existing Main account or KYC Lite account will automatically gain access via already existing Mobile Banking Platform.

How do I register for ZIPIT SMART as a customer?

No registration is required, the functionality is available on the mobile banking platform.

How secure is online registration?

Online registration is very secure as every registration detail entered is validated against details maintained in the core banking system. If there is any mismatch, the registration process cannot proceed.

What is a username?

It is your preferred unique name which identifies you on online banking.

Is it possible to change my registered username?

Unfortunately NO, you can only change the password if you feel it has been compromised.

Where is my registration One Time Password (OTP) send to?

The OTP is send both to your mobile number and email address which are maintained on your account in the system.
